Areas: Education and Behavioral & Social Science
Minor: Environmental Studies
I’m a Senior!
I always explain IDS to others as a major that I can do anything with. It’s flexible and inclusive with all of the things I want to do. I get to take a multitude of classes in different areas but they all link together in some way. It makes going to class more interesting and makes me feel like I’m actually learning something I can apply in the real world.
Even though I love my major there are some disadvantages. One being that no one knows what IDS means at all and when I tell them they give me the “so you’re a liberal arts major” look. I fear that future employers may look at this major the same way, but once explained, IDS graduates can be a great asset to many companies. One major advantage of this major is that it turns out well rounded students that are ready for anything, and I think that once employers catch on this major will become a lot more popular.

I never felt like I could apply my knowledge until I started this Cornerstone class. Partly because it forced me to tie the subjects together, but also because I'm motivated to learn. I actually feel like when I graduate I'll "be ready for anything," just like you said. It's exciting, isn't it?
